MMA

GREETINGS CAMPERS!

I BET YOU GUYS KNOW MMA.

Yes, that MMA.

What is MMA?
Mixed Martial Arts is a martial art like no other, it combines the likes of Muay Thai, Judo, BJJ, Wrestling, honestly, anything goes!

Just like Bruce Lee's theory of Jeet Kune Do, allows you to take down or strike at a person any way you want to, as long as you can hit the person or take the person down with a grapple.

Most people who learn MMA use attacks from Muay Thai and Boxing for striking, and they use moves from Judo and Brazillian Jiu Jit su to take people down to the ground before performing grapples.

Instead of using boxing gloves like the fighters in Muay Thai and Boxing, or using no gloves at all, MMA has a special made glove with individual holes for fingers. They also use handwraps like Muay Thai fighters do.

The gloves are specially made, as besides the usual punches, MMA has ground work too. Gloves that are made like these ones here, allow them to catch hold of their opponent and keep a strong grip. There are different types of gloves, some are best for bag work, these are the ones that are thicker. Some are for sparring, they are thick on the knuckles as well. The ones for sparring are thick on the knuckles not to protect your knuckles, but to protect your sparring partner. There are hybrid gloves as well, if you prefer switching from bagwork to sparring, to pad work often, these gloves would be fantastic for you.

MMA is a full contact sport, except for gloves, to protect your wrists, knuckles and your opponent's face, not much protective gear is used in this martial art.

So if you're ready to take up pain and really really tough training, MMA is the way to go!

The master of Tai Chi Kungfu

...to be continue.
Tai chi chuan is a part of Chinese kungfu that combine both its defensive training and health benefits and almost the same concept of Qigong. It is also useful for many other personal reasons like its hard and soft martial art technique, demonstration events, competitions, and longevity.
In addition, many type of training forms by both traditional and modern with it's own target to be as much more popular. Usually Tai Chi Chuan's training are the source of kungfu being practiced in big events that people around the world understand it's a slow movement martial art or kungfu.
The training are:
  1. Solo form (chuan, 拳) - slow pushing movements that holds a straight spine, abdominal breathing and a natural range of motion.
  2. The styles of pushing hands (tui shou, 推手) - for training movement by pushing the air which is the principles of the form with a partner and in a more practical manner.
This is the demo video clip of how the concept of Tai Chi Chuan kungfu works:

Street Fight: illegal Kungfu

This is a very serious offence topic to be learn: Every kungfu or martial art that we learn got it's own types of license or certificate for it's purposes. Example if you know the law and still commit crime, the punishments will be higher and imprisonment longer. Just like once you are admitted to or master your kungfu.
If you are committed to fighting cases, you are in serious offences and double the punishments base on the laws.

In Singapore, street fight is a illegal kungfu, even in other countries in the world, it consider fighting cases. For those who are learning any type of martial arts, it is very useful in terms of your hobbies or even if someone attack you, you can counter them and even avoid them from hitting you. Martial arts are for us to self-defence and not use it for the purpose of showing off and ask ("jio" in hokkien direct) someone to challenge with you in the street.

The following 5 things that we must learn about what is illegal to have street fight in the public:
    1. Bullying - usually people want to fight as they want to bully the weak ones. The purposes for gangster to have street fight with people is to show how big they are.

Things to be learn: Don't be someone who do silly mistakes like these that will regret for the rest of your life.

    2. Showing off - basically people thinks that fighting in the street will determine how strong and how powerful they are to show off their talents and skills.

Things to be learn: If you want to be better and stronger. The best is sign up for competition or matches rather than put yourself into trouble.

    3. Nothing to do so find someone to fight with or taking revenge - it reminds me of my secondary school life that students use to fight for revenge on someone. Ask people to fight for no reason.

Things to be learn: Don't try to be funny for revenge or being bored for that. Using hands on someone will end up serious offences. Even people keep on saying bad things or disturb you, try to control your temper to avoid street fight on him/her.

    4. Lost control or being drunk - actually people drink (beer or alcohol) too much, they will lose temper and commit to a fight with someone during night life, usually most cases held at either pub or clubbing areas.

Things to be learn: Avoid people trying to fight with you while you will drunk e.g walk away. Even though you will drunk, you are not fully in control as your mind still 30% alert that surround you. The best is don't drink or set a limit for drinking.

    5. Lastly, fight for love - this the most important things to avoid, for lovers who really want to take revenge on someone who sneaks away your boyfriend/girlfriend/lover/wife/husband. Usually it is the hardest ways to control someone being betrayed so people will fight or even kill the betrayers for their emotions and for their lovers.

Things to be learn: Think about your future and career, although you don't like he/she. Life is to move on rather than having a fight (consider street fight with him/she). Don't suicide for love, it is really stupid things to do too. Living in this world as a human is the most precious thing.

Someone who like to enjoy life will think about "There so many trees in the forest, don't focus on that tree which not worth your love. Find the tree which can produce fruits and give you happiness". Think about these phrase, then you will treasure your life.

  1. Always remember, the main reason we learn kungfu is to protect oneself and for self-defence. Let's learn somethings that we must avoid in this street fight skills which is not a kungfu from this video:

2. Another video about what is really happening in public of these 2 womens fighting in the sms bus in Singapore:

That's all I can post about this interesting "street fight" topic, hope you enjoy and like this post. The main purpose for it is to learn from "street fight" mistakes before it's too late to be regret for doing it.

Kenjutsu

Kenjutsu is a weapons art consisting of the use of wooden practice weapons (wooden swords). Sometimes very advanced practitioners will practice or participate in formal demonstrations using steel blades, although this is not generally recommended for normal practice.

Kenjutsu is taught in many dojos as an adjunctive study to the main art form, such as Aikido. The study of sword forms enhances both the understanding of physical principles of movement, distance and dynamic and mental focus.

Aikido has many forms of practice with a bokken (wooden training sword) but as a rule these forms are taught with the intent of increasing understanding of Aikido principles and improving posture, movement and coordination. Many Aikido players therefore, study a ryu (or school) of kenjutsu separate and apart from their primary Aikido study in order to learn a specialized and dedicated form of fencing.

Snake Fist Martial Art style!

She Quan or Snake Fist is the name for several Chinese martial arts that imitate the movements of snakes in their execution of offensive and defensive movements. These arts feature strong yet soft movements so that a fighter imitates the suppleness of a snake’s body to achieve powerful and if need be deadly attacks.

Thus, She Quan’s techniques and movements rely on speed to be effective. The snake is one of the five major animals whose imagery is especially widespread in Kung Fu. There are several Chinese martial arts known as Snake Boxing or Snake Style (Chinese: 蛇拳; pinyin: shéquán; literally “snake fist”) which imitate the movements of snakes.

Qigong

Hi everyone, let's focus on Qigong now.

The rules for every kungfu is simple, to win, "you must hit him & don't let him hit you".

Qigong is the Chinese martial art to determine how important is Chinese system of physical and mental training for health, it is a kungfu with self-enlightenment.
There are four types of training for the practices of Qigong, they are:

Dynamic -Training involves special tactics which refer to kungfu such as Tai ji Quan (more details will update on next presentation on Taiqi).

Static - To hold the body in a paticular posture during training.

Meditative - The training focus on skills like ideas, sounds, images, concepts or breathing patterns.

Activities - Training specific on special occasions to be approve by the governments such as well-known events and so on.

The Practices of Qigong are:

  2. Static qigong - exercise that holds a certain posture, position or stance for a period of time just like practicing Yoga in the Buddhist ways.
  3. Meditation Qigong - a popular training method of mind body that can be found in many different cultures. The kind of Qigong with external agents as many system of qigong training includes the use of external agents.

The main reasons for Qigong's martial arts:

  • Qigong skills such as the withstand heavy strikes (Iron Shirt) and the ability to break hard objects (Iron Palm) are skills that is part of the qigong training.

Let's take a look on this awesome video on how useful Qigong can be:

~ Jeet Kune Do ~

(Bruce Lee book advertisement on top left, Bruce lee demo his kicking on the left , and most important of all, the theory of Jeet Kune Do all lies in the picture at the very top.
Hello guys ! welcome back to our blog about kung fu ! Today i am bringing you guys to a new world of kung fu , and guess which kung fu i am going to introduce this time?
It is the Jeet Kune Do!

Scope about Jeet Kune Do ~
  1. Do you know Jeet kune do is founded by who? yes , if your guess is Bruce Lee , you are right !
  2. Jeet Kune Do is founded in 1967 with direct, non-classical and straightforward movements.
  3. jeet Kune Do is a hybrid martial arts system and life philosophy .
  4. unlike more traditional martial arts , Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned, and is a philosophy with guiding thoughts.
  5. The core concept of Jeet Kune Do are derived by Wing chun

Jeet Kune Do is a special type of kung fu which seeks to waste no time or movement , teaching things work best.
list of examples below
  • efficiency: An attack which reaches its target in the least amount of time , with maximum force.
  • directness: Doing what naturally in a learned way
  • simplicity: Thinking in an uncomplicated manner ; without ornamentation
This is meant to help a practicioner conserve both energy and time , two crucial components in a physical confrontation.
Rapidity aims to reach the target before the opponent can react, which is half-beat faster timing, learned in Wing Chun and western boxing.

Now is time for techniques
  1. stop hits and stop kicks - This means intercepting an opponent's attack of your own instead of a simple block.
  2. simultaneous parry and punching- when confronting an incoming attack , the attack is parried and a counter attack is delivered at the same time.
  3. low kicks - kicks to opponents' shins , knees , thighs and mid section.
All of the above techniques carries with some theory.

Stop hits and stop kicks utilize the principle of economy of motion by combining attack and defense into one movement thus minimizing the "time" element.

simultaneous parry and punching utilizes the opponents energy against them by creating an imbalance . Efficiency is also gained in that the opponent has less time to react to the nullification of their attack while having to worry about defending an incoming attack.

Low kicks utilizes the principle of economy of motion by reducing the distance a kick must travel thus minimizing the "time" element.

Alright guess you guys are sick of reading wordy blog right? Time for some video about JEET KUNE DO :)

This videos below explain about Jeet Kune Do techniques and give you a better understanding to JEET KUNE DO :) ENJOY
