MMA

GREETINGS CAMPERS!

I BET YOU GUYS KNOW MMA.

Yes, that MMA.

What is MMA?
Mixed Martial Arts is a martial art like no other, it combines the likes of Muay Thai, Judo, BJJ, Wrestling, honestly, anything goes!

Just like Bruce Lee's theory of Jeet Kune Do, allows you to take down or strike at a person any way you want to, as long as you can hit the person or take the person down with a grapple.

Most people who learn MMA use attacks from Muay Thai and Boxing for striking, and they use moves from Judo and Brazillian Jiu Jit su to take people down to the ground before performing grapples.

Instead of using boxing gloves like the fighters in Muay Thai and Boxing, or using no gloves at all, MMA has a special made glove with individual holes for fingers. They also use handwraps like Muay Thai fighters do.

The gloves are specially made, as besides the usual punches, MMA has ground work too. Gloves that are made like these ones here, allow them to catch hold of their opponent and keep a strong grip. There are different types of gloves, some are best for bag work, these are the ones that are thicker. Some are for sparring, they are thick on the knuckles as well. The ones for sparring are thick on the knuckles not to protect your knuckles, but to protect your sparring partner. There are hybrid gloves as well, if you prefer switching from bagwork to sparring, to pad work often, these gloves would be fantastic for you.

MMA is a full contact sport, except for gloves, to protect your wrists, knuckles and your opponent's face, not much protective gear is used in this martial art.

So if you're ready to take up pain and really really tough training, MMA is the way to go!
