Samurai

Samurai is the military force in Japanese History. According to the past, there were death match for competitions and tournaments. According to Wilson, the word "samurai" appears in the Kokin Wakashu, the first imperial anthology of poems, completed in the first part of the ninth century.

In the 12th century, samurai became propular and famous with bushi (武士), and the word was so famous that it's history affected with the middle and upper echelons of the warrior class.

Today, our group managed to explore the world of Samurai with you with some of the interests in it:

  • Culture ~ samurai developed their own cultures that influenced Japanese culture as a whole. The culture associated with the samurai such as the tea ceremony, monochrome ink painting, rock gardens and poetry were adopted by warrior patrons throughout the centuries 1200-1600.

    The practices were actually formed by the Chinese swordplay kungfu. Zen monks intro the skills to Japan and they were allowed to learn how to become warrior elites. Muso Soseki (1275–1351) was a Zen monk inverted the skills to both Emperor Go-Daigo and General Ashikaga Takauji (1304–58).

    Muso as well as other monks acted as political and cultural diplomats between Japan and China. Muso was particularly well known for his garden design.
